If you’ve ever curled up in our Claire Nightgown or kicked back in our Soft Joggers, you know what makes Faceplant Dreams different. Our custom-knitted bamboo blend is incredibly soft, breathable, and smooth, which is a particular gift to sensitive skin. It’s comfort you can count on, and with a little extra care, that feeling can last wash after wash.
Here are a few simple tips to help keep your Faceplant pieces looking and feeling like new.
Everyday cleaning and TLC
Bamboo fabrics are naturally gentle on your skin and the planet. They’re breathable, moisture-wicking, and have that dreamy softness you’ll never want to take off. The fabric is naturally odor resistant, but eventually, they will need to be laundered!
Here’s a few tips on how to care for them:
- Turn item inside out and wash on cold using a gentle cycle.
- Agitator style washers are not a friend to bamboo. Use a front load or impeller washer if possible.
- Wash only with similar gentle and lightweight fabrics. Don’t share the machine with denim, corduroy or items with snaps or Velcro. Finely knitted bamboo fabrics are more fragile when wet and even bath towels can be very abrasive.
- Use only a mild, Plant based detergents. Harsh chemicals can weaken bamboo fibers over time.
- Skip fabric softeners. ½ cup of white vinegar in the rinse works just as well.
- Air dry or tumble on low heat
What About Stains?
Makeup, face oils, and life’s little spills are bound to happen. For those moments, a quick spot treatment is your best friend. Simply washing in a gentle detergent usually does the trick, but for oils and tougher stains, it’s time to get serious:
- Blot the stain with paper towel or an absorbent cloth to remove as much of the oil possible.
- Apply a small amount of a gentle dish soap. Rub it in so it absorbs into the stained area and let it sit for 5-7 minutes.
- Sprinkle baking soda or corn starch on top of the soap and let it sit again for 15-20 minutes.
- You can gently rub the baking soda or corn starch. Aggressive scrubbing, however, will damage the fabric. Let the soda or starch do the work for you!
- Brush off the excess soda or starch and launder as usual in cold water.
Do we have favorite cleaners?
We’ve traditionally used Dawn Dish soap on oil stains. That worked great, until we used it on white sheets and the chemical residue of the blue coloring left a tint. Uggghhh! That’s how we discovered L’AVANT’s Dish Soap works great as a gentle pre-treatment and base cleaner for oil stains along with baking soda or corn starch. Its plant based, gentle and powerful!
Then we discovered that L’AVANT’s Laundry Detergent is fabulous too! It contains no bleach, dyes, phthalates, phosphates or parabens, making it a safe option for your sensitive skin, your home and the environment. Bonus: L’AVANT is also a woman-owned, highly conscious company focused on sustainability.
With just a little extra TLC, your Faceplant Luxury Loungewear will stay as soft, dreamy, and comforting as the first time you wore it.
