We’re based in Ybor City, Florida, a unique hub of artists and dreamers filled with great coffee shops and neighborhood eats. Every vibrant and evolving neighborhood relies on the love of community to support the arts, the businesses and its very own members when they need a little help. Ybor is no different and your purchase helps us share our love on a local level.
We commit a minimum of 3% of our profit to our local community where we believe our donation has the strongest impact.
LOCAL LOVE
Academy Prep Centers For Education
Each year, your Faceplant purchases help provide scholarships for neighborhood economically disadvantaged students to attend one of the most amazing non-profit schools we’ve ever seen: Academy Prep Center of Tampa.
In our own backyard, Academy Prep provides a thriving education program that transforms the lives of underserved students. At the core of their mission, Academy Prep provides an exemplary college preparatory middle school education coupled with a wide range of life changing services. In an area where the high school graduation rate is approximately 50%, Academy Prep boasts a 99% graduation rate.
Academy Prep changes lives and offers disadvantaged students the opportunity to help transform their own community from within.
Metropolitan Ministries
Metropolitan Ministries meets the most urgent needs of struggling Tampa area families. In collaboration with 65 neighborhood partners, they care for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in our community through emergency shelters, residential programs, meal sites, food pantry, metro outfitters clothing closet and additional programs.
Faceplant donates over $15,000 annually through the clothing closet program to promote dignity through comfortable clothing and to help families make a fresh start.
Hurricane Victims
As a Florida based company, our staff and our community are well versed in hurricane preparedness and recovery. We are on the ground and ready to respond when our community calls.
Our offices were built in 2014 to meet all FBC post-Andrew standards. When hurricanes threaten, we stock up on water, food, gas and other supplies. We invite staff, their families and others in our community needing refuge.
When Tampa, Anna Maria Island, and surrounding beaches were hit hard back to back by Helene and Milton in the fall of 2024, the devastation of our entire community was overwhelming. Our staff quickly sprang into action to distribute comfortable clean clothing amongst the thousands of newly homeless families.
In the fall of 2019 while the winds were still blowing over the Bahamas from Hurricane Dorian, we gratefully accepted donations offered on GofundMe and loaded our personal boat with the supplies that were needed most. While government recovery efforts stalled due to impassable dock and airport damage, we made the crossing twice filled with over $20,000 in supplies to help rebuild a community devastated by high winds and waters.
WE ALSO SUPPORT
Golden Paws
PAWS Assistance Dogs raises, trains and pairs service dogs with wounded combat soldiers and children free of cost. With two close family members who are disabled veterans, our animal loving founder felt immediately drawn to the organization’s goals. After several years of partnering with PAWS fundraising, we had the privilege of learning first-hand how life changing these animals can be when PAWS provided a trained service dog to one of our own.
Teachers
With the incredible impact teachers have on the lives and dreams of young people, we believe they are our strongest advocates for social change. A sound education is the root of all success for an individual and a community. We wanted to thank our teachers - from the bottom of our soles. So we did!
Nurses
If Covid has taught us anything, it's taught us to improvise, adapt and find creative ways to care for ourselves, our loved ones and our communities. When we couldn't get face coverings soon enough, we made them... by the thousands. One of our favorite customers hand-stitched buttons to hundreds of donated Faceplant headbands which were then given to nurses around the country to protect their ears from the discomfort of face masks.
